In a rather strange move in the TWS earbuds development (but not unwelcome), LG has debut the LG TONE Free FN6 True Wireless Earbuds that comes with an UVnano charging case that “kills 99.9 percent of bacteria.”
When the earbuds are inside the this UL Verified charging case, the part on the earbud closest to the inner ear will be sterilized. UL verified that the UV light reduces bacteria on the earbuds’ speaker mesh by 99.9 percent during the powered charging cycle.
I guess it is a bonus, other than the fact that this pair of TWS has Meridian Audio technology packed into it – specifically the Headphone Spatial Processing (HSP) technology. HSP, which is powered by Digital Signal Processing, is said to deliver “an extra audio dimension” to your listening experience.
The earbuds also boasts 4 Meridian-developed customized EQ settings, tailored for different listening experience, along with two customizable EQ modes which you can tweak using a dedicated app.
Other worthy mentions include Ambient Sound mode for ambient sound pass-through, IPX4 rated construction, support for voice assistants (Google Assistant and Siri), intuitive touch commands for music control, and 6 hours of playback plus an additional 12 hours from the charging case.
LG TONE Free FN6 True Wireless Earbuds is available now for US$149.99.
Can I just say that while the features sound brilliant, somehow the product name kind of bothers me. I mean. You know how we describe people who can’t perceive differences of musical pitch accurately as “tone deaf” and so, TONE Free, sounds like it is implying that the earphones are free of tone. And surely “free of tone” isn’t quite a good thing for a pair of headphones, does it? Just saying…
