France automaker Peugeot’s vision of electric car is like diesel and petrol cars. It will be just another option on the list. In other words, you choose whether you want to roll with diesel, patrol, or electric.
Such is the rationale behind the look of its first new-generation, 100 percent electric vehicle, the Peugeot e-208. The e-208 not only looks identical to the fossil fuel powered models, it was also introduces at the same time because, it is just another drive option.
What Peugeot did here is normalizing electric vehicle. Making it the new normal, so to speak. On the flip side, it won’t be super in performance which, until now, electric vehicles have convinced us that they possessed. It is, after all, an everyday car that is not awfully expensive.
E-208 gets a 136 horsepower electric motor, fed by a 50 kWh battery system that provides it with a 211 mile (about 340 kilometers) range on a single charge. Not the most attractive range, I must say.
Obviously, electric vehicles won’t have the luxury of refueling in minutes like fossil fuel-powered vehicles. Charging this little guy from empty to full will take 8 hours. This means, night out with your car till late is a no go if you need to use the car early the next morning.
Anywho, in its most basic trim (dubbed Active trim), the Peugeot e-208 has a starting price of £25,050 (or about US$32,000-ish).
