the moment you hear the name Unmonday, you know you are going to see something unusual. why not? even the name itself implies that or at least that’s what we thought. anyway, Unmonday is a Finland-based speaker firm that wants to reaffirm how audio should be delivered: completely wireless and expandable, wrapped in a single stylish, hexagon ceramic enclosure that’s devoid of any form of physical buttons (except for a reset button) and the Unmonday 4.3L is just the speaker that will do all those. the maker is damn right when they claimed that “portable speakers have never been this stylish” – upon seeing the design, we have to concur with that claim. it is indeed beautiful. the speakers will be made by professional craftsmen with the best materials available and features custom amplifier that drives a Alpair 10 full range driver. the 4.3L is touted as the first-ever portable Dolby Surround Speaker and is designed to allow users to enjoy their favorite tunes in three ways: Mono, Stereo, or Dolby Surround sound. audio input of choice is wirelessly via Apple’s AirPlay technology, however, there’s also a 3.5mm audio jack which you could use but why would you want to spoil the beauty of a true cable-less setup, especially given that it is powered by a rechargeable battery that gives up to 10 hours of playback and no cable attached?

built into the 4.3L speaker is a motion sensor that senses which side of the hexagonal shape the speaker is on and thus, allowing the speaker to be assigned to one of the five Dolby Surround channel. the speaker also provides for expandability, letting you add up to five speakers but with a single unit costing a hefty $499, we are quite skeptical how well it will be received. oh, in case you are wondering, a Surround set of five 4.3L will set you back at $2,499. however, if we look beyond the price and study what goes under the hood, the material it uses, and the style-factor (it comes with a specially-designed leather case) then perhaps that amount could be well worth it. last but not least, a free app will be made available for managing multiple speakers, giving users additional control such as volume control and monitoring of battery status on multiple speakers. the Unmonday 4.3L Ceramic Speaker is currently live on Kickstarter asking for the masses for support so if you think your pockets have what it takes, then head on there show your support. check out a product intro clip after the break.
