URWERK did not just intentionally announced a new exclusive super luxe timepiece on May the 4th, Star Wars Day. The timepiece, URWERK UR-100 Gold Edition ‘Fight’ C19, has subtle reference to Star Wars.
As the name suggests, the watch has been specially created for an auction organized by URWERK to fight against COVID-19.
So, just how Star Wars–ish is the URWERK UR-100 Gold Edition? If I can be honest, it is hard to tell, but the intention is expressed explicitly by URWERK in its official text. The watch made quite an entrance, literary.
For non-geek and non-fan of all-thing sci-fi, those official press words will mean nothing for you. However, the watch’s design will definitely appear to any collector of exquisite luxury timepieces.
It is a satellite-geared watch with a case crafted from a solid block of 2N yellow gold and the surface, satin-finished to Star Wars droid, C-3PO. I am no connoisseur, but man, the sapphire crystal bubble, the cogs and all that, does emanate the space-age vibe (with a tint of steampunk, if I may add).
