Need your ice cream fix fast? Well then, you have to look to Edd China and his newly-crowned “world’s fastest electric ice cream van,” or as it is known in North America, ice cream truck. Edd has recently set a new Guinness World Record for the “world’s fastest electric ice cream van.”
Not surprisingly, inventor and mechanic Edd China is hailed from the UK because, everything about the UK is about being fast, innit? – even if it is a tractor. Moreover, the man is no stranger to breaking records; this is in fact his seventh Guinness World Record title. Edd was also the man behind the fastest office.
Anywho, the man took 2 years to modify a custom prototype ice cream truck by ice cream truck manufacturer Whitby Morrison that was based on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
The inspiration of an all-electric ice cream came about when Edd realized ice cream vans were banned in some London boroughs due to the “toxic emissions”. And yes, this ice cream truck can totally serve ice cold, electrically frozen ice cream.
Long story short, the man did it and in the process it secured the world’s fastest electric ice cream van with 118.964 km/h (73.921 mph). The record was set at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire, UK, on March 17, 2020.
