The Daniel Arsham x Hot Wheels Collection has a second drop! The second drop includes two collectible 1:64 scale Hot Wheel die-cast cars, namely, a Bonsai Speedster and a very special version of the Deora II. The former is inspired by Daniel Arsham’s real-life Porsche 356 Speedster that has been thoroughly custom over 2 years while the latter is a complete reimagination of one of the Hot Wheels “Original Sweet 16” released in 1968.
The Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham Porsche 356 “Bonsai” Speedster, as it is officially called, replicates Arsham’s barest classic sports car including welding lines and weathered aesthetic, the vintage “BONSA1” license plate and an interior featuring a plastic replica of 1:1 version’s indigo-dyed Japanese textiles. Rounding up the design is a set of Real Riders deep dish wheels with a wash/wide weathering effect and a clear windshield.
The Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham Eroded Deora II, on the other hand, is the Deora II treated to the same erosion as the Dodge and Porsche we saw in the first drop. But this time, the extent of the erosion is further felt thanks to colors inspired by a sample of patinated bronze from Arsham’s foundry. The green patina of bronze is interjected by crystallized erosion exposing the original bronze before the patina.
The bronze is known as Arsham Bronze and the model boasts a silkstone body type riding on matching bronze patina Real Riders 5-spoke wheels. Both die-cast collectibles will come in special packaging which includes a transparent display case with a base inscribed with the die-cast car’s name.
The Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham Porsche 356 “Bonsai” Speedster and the Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham Eroded Deora II are available for pre-order now for US$70 each. Shipping is expected to begin on or before February 16, 2024.
