LEGO Technic Set Unveiled Jan 2023

If you love LEGO Technic, all-manner of transportation, and also love Matt Reeves’ The Batman from last year, this news is going to leave you oh-so-broke. Nah. Just kidding. It won’t (leave you oh-so-broke) because these sets are kid-friendly – well, at least 3 of the 4 are anyways, and have a low-piece count (again, 3 of the 4 are), and therefore they are quite affordable.

LEGO Technic Firefighter Aircraft (42152)

LEGO Technic Firefighter Aircraft (42152)

LEGO has listed four new LEGO Technic sets destined for March release. Kicking off the list is a must-have for rescue vehicle collectors, the LEGO Technic Firefighter Aircraft (42152). We don’t have a lot on the LEGO Technic Firefighter Aircraft (42152) but it looks super cool and while it probably will not size up to the LEGO Technic Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter, I think it will make a good addition to your LEGO Technic rescue fleet.

This handsome LEGO Technic aircraft has functional landing gear, tail flap, and free-spinning propellers. The hatch can be opened too to release the LEGO “water” elements. The 42152 is not officially listed like the other sets announced but LEGO has shared some details on LEGO Kids. That said, piece count, pricing, and exact availability are unknown.

[UPDATE March 13, 2023, 9 PM PT] The LEGO Technic Firefighter Aircraft is now listed and available on LEGO.com, priced at US$99.99.

LEGO Technic NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (42153)

Meanwhile, in the area of land transport, specifically, race cars, there is the LEGO Technic NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (42153). The set has 672 pieces and boasts a V8 engine with moving pistons, opening doors, realistic steering, and more. More importantly, it accurately recreates the NASCAR race car despite being a Technic set.

When completed, it measures 7 cm high, 28 cm long, and 13 cm wide (around 3 x 11 x 5 inches). The LEGO Technic NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (42153) is expected to drop on March 01, 2023, for US$49.99. Recommended for ages 9 and up.

LEGO Technic 2022 Ford GT (42154)

Next up on the list is one of the two sets that I am most excited about. It is the LEGO Technic 2022 Ford GT (42154), which is by far the most accurately represented sports car at this price point, IMHO. It is a 1:12 scale model that lets you recreate the rear-wheel drive sports car, complete with differential, working V6 engine, working spoiler wing, independent suspension all around, front-axle steering, and opening doors and hood.

All told, the 42154 packs 1,466 pieces, and measures 9 cm high, 39 cm long, and 18 cm wide (about 3.5 x 15 x 7 inches) when completed. However, this is not for kids; they are geared toward adult fans of LEGO (i.e. recommended for ages 8 and up). It will be released on March 1, 2023, for US$119.99.

LEGO Technic The Batman – Batcycle (42155)

The last of the four new, and the second set we are most excited for is the LEGO Technic, the Batcycle straight out of the last year’s The Batman movie. The LEGO Technic The Batman – Batcycle (42155) is also a 9+ set that packs just 641 pieces for recreating authentic features like the steering, suspension, and chain drive that connects the articulating H4 engine and the rear wheel. Also included is an integrated kickstand for displaying the vehicle upright.

When completed, this scale-model replica of the Batcycle measures 16 cm high, 33 cm long, and 11 cm wide (about 6.5 x 13 x 11 inches). Like the rest of the sets featured here, the LEGO Technic The Batman – Batcycle (42155) will drop on March 01, 2023. It has an asking price of US$49.99.
