Godzilla Minus Zero First Look Teaser
The first-look teaser for the Godzilla Minus One sequel previews a return to Koichi Shikishima’s story in 1949, with new scenes extending beyond Japan and into New York ahead of its November 2026 release. 🦖🎬

Godzilla Minus One sent shockwaves through the industry when it won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards in 2024 with a rumored super-low VFX budget. Three years later, the team is at it again. Folks, this is Godzilla Minus Zero. The film, which is set to hit theaters on November 06, 2026, has just dropped its first-look teaser. I can say we are as intrigued and excited as when we first saw the Godzilla Minus One trailer.

Godzilla Minus One sequel first-look teaser showing Godzilla in postwar setting with New York hinted

The story picks up two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, in 1949. It tells the story of the infamous radioactive reptile of gigantic proportions through the eyes of the Shikishima family. However, this time, the setting shifts partly outside Japan to New York, as hinted in the teaser. The teaser also hints at other forces at play beyond Gojira himself, though that detail could be a result of us reading too much into it.

The story continues along the same characters’ timeline, with Ryunosuke Kamiki reprising his role as Koichi Shikishima, the hero who faced Godzilla’s terror in Godzilla Minus One, as well as Minami Hamabe reprising the role of Noriko Oishi, Shikishima’s unlikely partner who miraculously survived Godzilla’s first attack on Tokyo. Interestingly, the movie is produced for IMAX from the outset. Godzilla Minus One was shot with high-definition digital cameras certified by IMAX and optimized in sound and imagery for IMAX screens.

Takashi Yamazaki is the director. He is also the screenwriter, who apparently started writing shortly after the first film’s success, and he is also the VFX supervisor. The Shirogumi team also returns as the core VFX collaborators, and Toho’s side continues to serve as the producer. Anyhoo, enough talk. Here’s the first-look teaser. 🎬🦖
