Hasbro MP-10G Optimus Prime Ecto-35 Edition

You heard it is coming and you have seen the “leaked” images, now here’s the official look of the latest Transformers and Ghostbusters mash up, Hasbro MP-10G Optimus Prime Ecto-35 Edition. The set, as we have reported previously, is the good’ol Prime, but now sporting a more subtle colorways and in Ghostbusters livery – complete with Ghostbusters logo, the tagline “we’re ready to believe you” and even a phone number to boot (and not forgetting splashes of slime).

What we didn’t know then was the Ghost Trap is not transformed from any part; it resides inside the trailer. Speaking of the trailer, it actually opens up to reveal a ghost-busting base where you find “maintenance supplies” and the said Ghost Trap. And remember the proton pack on top of the trailer? Well, it turns out that it goes on Optimus Prime’s back, so Prime can go around kicking some supernatural (Decepticon) asses.

Finally, the packaging itself not look like a (almost) life-size proton pack, but it is also wearable. Yes. It does come with a slimer figure too, but as noted in our post in April, it is a non-translucent version, i.e. it’s in solid lime green, unlike the Ghostbusters Mash-Up Ecto-1 Ectotron which comes with a translucent lime green Slimer. Now that we have mentioned Ghostbusters Mash-Up Ecto-1 Ectotron… you may want to know that the official release date is in July and it is available for pre-order now over at Hasbro Pulse, priced at $49.99.

The Hasbro MP-10G Optimus Prime Ecto-35 Edition, on the other hand, is a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive and as such, it will only be available at SDCC from July 18-21, going for $149.99. So, it will be tough luck if you aren’t heading to be at the convention.
