Even if you are not old enough to know the earlier seasons of The Simpsons, you would have come across the memes from the early days of The Simpsons. One of the most famous memes would be that of Homer emerging from the bushes and then disappearing into them again. Often used to express awkward retreat.

If you are a meme curator, well, I say, why stop at animated GIFs? Why not have this meme in the flesh—or rather, in plastic bricks? Thanks to LEGO MOC extraordinaire JK Brickworks, now you can own a piece—or 227 pieces—of this famous meme. Folks, this is the LEGO MOC of Homer in the Bushes by JK Brickworks, designed in collaboration with Dustin Lebel, a fellow ParLUGment member. Apparently, Lebel is the person who started it.
Anyhoo, when completed, you can recreate the scene from The Simpsons Season 5, Episode 16, titled “Homer Loves Flanders.” For the uninitiated, in this scene Homer emerges from a hedge to greet his neighbor, Ned Flanders, extending an invitation to spend time together. Rejected by Ned, Homer—who used to despise Flanders—awkwardly backs into the hedge and disappears.

Back to this LEGO MOC… it has a gear system that, when rotated, splits the LEGO hedge apart as Homer slides out from the “hedge,” which is pretty much a block decorated with leaf elements. It’s a simple and yet elegant design that perfectly brings the meme/scene to the real world.
You can pick up the PDF instructions for the LEGO Homer in the Bushes from Rebrickable for US$3.50, or you can pick it up as a kit from Build a MOC for 65 bucks.
