Given how bookends have kind of become an art and given how versatile LEGO elements are, it only makes sense to turn LEGO into bookends. And LEGO Bookends are exactly what LEGO Ideas member Jimmi-DK, aka Jimmy Jakobsen, have proposed.
There are a few proposed LEGO bookends on LEGO ideas, but they are not quite like the LEGO Ideas Train Bookends from the dude who brought to you the awesome Pac-Man Arcade and Knight Rider’s K.I.T.T.
Jimmy’s proposition features a classic steam train exiting a tunnel that is covered in (LEGO) overgrowth. It is an excellent piece that also comes with 5 minifigures, including a train driver and 4 passengers. The roofs of both the locomotive and the carriage can be removed to access the minifigures. So, yeah, they are kind of playable which is pretty awesome, IMHO.
We love how its creator has given the tunnel some dimension, complete with side detailing, rather than going with a simple, vertical piece. We also love the ground details, including a green ground and part of the train track.
All told, Jimmi-DK’s proposed set has 945 pieces. LEGO Ideas Train Bookends by Jimmi-DK may have a shot at becoming an official set. It has hit 10,000 supporters which means it will qualify for the First 2021 LEGO Ideas Review Stage. Awesome!
