The old adage of “the pen is mightier than the sword” is not probably Batman‘s belief which means, it is unlikely that you will find a pen holstered to Batman‘s utility belt – even if it looks like something straight out of the Batcave, like the Montegrappa The Batman Pen. But I am sure fans of the cape crusader will appreciate it. I know I do.
Since we are not vengeance like The Batman is, we can only choose to write with a vengeance with the Montegrappa The Batman Pen. Utility belt is entirely optional. What about gifting to the superhero? Nah, he’d probably use it to stab the shit out of Gotham City’s villains.
The Montegrappa The Batman Pen is actually based on the writing instrument maker’s Extra Otto silhouette but as you can see, it looks nothing like the Extra Otto. Not even in spirit – thanks to the aesthetic inspired by the billionaire crimefighter’s Batsuit.
The super collectible writing instrument features a titanium armor-plated body garnished with a solid-metal Batman emblem and a cap inspired by Batman’s gauntlet, in blackened brass with blackened brass grip inlays, and complete a spring-loaded grapple gun clip, spare grappling hooks, before finally rounding up with a laser-engraved bat-signal.
The complex armored was the result of precise 5-axis machining and the brass used was ruthenium-plated brass.
The Montegrappa The Batman Pen is offered as a fountain and as a rollerball pen. The former further features Batman’s cowl on the jet-black 18K gold 8mm nib. But rest assured is nothing ostentatious.
Each limited edition Bat pen comes with its own purpose-built display stand in the shape of the Batman logo.
Limited to just 330 pieces worldwide, the Montegrappa The Batman Pen is available now for €3,650 and €4,350 (around US$4,037 and US$4,811) for the Rollerball and the Fountain Pen, respectively.
