The Batman hype may be over but this MAFEX The Batman action figure by Medicom Toy is worthy of a mention nonetheless. The 160 mm (6.3 inches) tall action figure stood out in the head sculpt department. The likeness to the British actor is through the roof.
In addition, the gadget in his chest, which we now know is a folding Glauca knife, is removable like in the movie. OK. IT IS NOT. But you get a replacement chest part with the Batarang removed and a Batarang accessory so you can recreate the one scene where Robert Pattinson’s Batman removed the Batarang to sever the electrical cable. Cable not included. If you ask me, for an 80-ish dollars toy, that feature is pretty impressive – that and head sculpt with an uncanny likeness to Robert Pattinson.
Speaking of head sculpt, you will be getting not one, not two, or three but four. There is the messy hair head with black eye makeup, a clean head, and two bat cowl heads with two lower face expressions (stoic and gritting teeth).
The toy further comes with a host of accessories, including a grappling gun, a hand flare, holstered weapons, a pair of replacement hands/forearms with concealed mini grappling guns extended, a cloth cap with wires to support flowing cape poses, and a bat cowl.
The MAFEX The Batman action figure is scheduled to be released in July 2023 for 10,780 yen (about US$79). You can pre-order it from amiami.com at a special 9,650 yen (around US$70+). Amiami does support international shipping. Or if you prefer to buy from a local online retailer, Big Bad Toy Store is taking pre-orders for US$109.99.
