We finally have our first look at the next Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. It has been 5 years since Thor: Ragnarok but this one will be the most anticipated movie since the first. Why? Because Jane Foster now wields the Mjolnir as the new Mighty Thor.
We have been enamored by this since Foster became Thor in 2014’s comics. Plus, we have always liked Natalie Portman as Jane Foster and so it couldn’t be more exciting than to have her taking the Thor mantle. Anyhoo, here’s the official description:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Also in the entourage are of course the bunch from Guardians of the Galaxy. Thor: Love and Thunder is directed by Taika Waititi who also played Korg and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum. It will hit the theaters nationwide on July 8, 2022.
