Dubbed Powerwatch, this multipurpose smartwatch’s built-in battery needs no recharging; all it needs is your body heat. According to Matrix Industries, our body, when at rest, generates about 100 watts of electricity and that number spikes significantly, to around 1 kW when we exercises, thus making our body an ideal battery charging source.
This groundbreaking technology uses the temperature difference between the human body and the environment to produce a continuous energy that is feed to the wearable’s battery. With Powerwatch, the days of docking your smartwatch to charge is finally over. The watch, which is designed by Hong Kong-based Italian designer Andrea Ponti, features a multilayered case with a thermal insulating material sandwiched between anodized aluminum. The thermoelectric technology is also responsible for tracking and showing you, in real-time, the calories burned and the electric power produced by your body. The minimalist appearance offers a clean and sophisticated look that cleverly conceals the watch’s true innovations and it is a good thing cos’ you probably don’t need a smartwatch that looks like the Pip-Boy in the real world.
