Dubbed Powerwatch, this multipurpose smartwatch’s built-in battery needs no recharging; all it needs is your body heat. The combination of low power electronics and advanced thermoelectric technology allows the watch to feed off the heat generated by your body. According to Matrix Industries, our body, when at rest, generates about 100 watts of electricity and that number spikes significantly, to around 1 kW when we exercises, thus making our body an ideal battery charging source.

This groundbreaking technology uses the temperature difference between the human body and the environment to produce a continuous energy that is feed to the wearable’s battery. With Powerwatch, the days of docking your smartwatch to charge is finally over. The watch, which is designed by Hong Kong-based Italian designer Andrea Ponti, features a multilayered case with a thermal insulating material sandwiched between anodized aluminum. The thermoelectric technology is also responsible for tracking and showing you, in real-time, the calories burned and the electric power produced by your body. The minimalist appearance offers a clean and sophisticated look that cleverly conceals the watch’s true innovations and it is a good thing cos’ you probably don’t need a smartwatch that looks like the Pip-Boy in the real world.
