There are many memorable scenes from the original Jurassic Park franchise. However, none have been more memed than Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm shirtless-on-bed scene after the T-Rex attack. Well, technically, he wasn’t ‘shirtless’, he had the buttons of the shirt undone, exposing his chest and so that counted as bare-chested.
Anyways, it was an unnecessary and bizarre scene, and yet, not only did it happen but it has been deeply ingrained in our memory relating to Jurassic Park. In fact, it was such an iconic scene that some toymaker even immortalized it as a collectible statue back in 2018 which was sold for a cool 600 bucks.
Fast forward to 2022, fans will have a chance to pick up this unforgettable scene of Dr. Malcolm again but this time as a toy that cost a whole lot less. Fans of Jeff Goldblum/Dr. Ian Malcolm/Jurassic Park, meet the Dr. Ian Malcolm Shirtless Scene Toy from Jurassic Park by Mattel.
OK. That’s not the official product name. I believe it is officially known as The Jurassic Park Chaos Theory Dr. Ian Malcolm Figure. I know right. The name is not self-explanatory. However, the official product name did suggest that it is a “book”.
The toy is presented as Dr. Malcolm’s “much-anticipated book, God Creates Dinosaurs.” Instead of pages inside as you would find in an actual book, you will find the true masterpiece of the Jurassic Park series – the author, i.e. Dr. Ian Malcolm, in his shirtless, posable splendor on the bed.
Mattel’s toy designers did not stop there. To paraphrase Dr. Ian Malcolm’s words… The toy designers were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should. And it is for the best, I guess because not only iconic scene is now a toy, it is complete with mood light effects and a sound feature with eight Ian Malcolm quotes.
Now that is a must-have for any Jurassic Park fans. Plus, it will only cost you US$25 when it goes on sale on May 24, 2022, at 1200 hours.
