Mercedes-Benz E-Scooter at IAA

Most major automakers, including the likes of Audi, BMW, Hyundai Motor Group and Volkswagen, saw electric scooter as the future of last mile transportation and scramble to introduced their own iterations. Well, Mercedes-Benz isn’t about to be left behind.

It, too, has announced that it has partnered with Micro Mobility AG (the same company that BMW is working with for their last mile device) to introduce a Mercedes-Benz EQ-branded e-scooter.

Not a lot is known about this pointed star badged micro electric scooter, except for it will fall under Mercedes-Benz EQ family and it is a co-branded product with Micro, with the automaker’s badge and EQ logo appearing on the stem.

It probably is not a scooter from Micro slapped with Mercedes-Benz branding. Maybe? According to Mercedes-Benz, this e-scooter “was developed in cooperation with the scooter specialist.”

Well, whatever, Mercedes-Benz, because it won’t be as wacky and radical as VW’s. It certainly be as innovative as Audi’s and it certainly won’t be something designed from the ground up to compliment its own fleet of vehicles like Hyundai Motor Groups.

Instead, it will very much like BMW’s which, TBH, feels like a half-hearted effort just to be in the game, if you know what I mean. It looks like e-scooter to automakers will be like the industry has done with bicycles in the past.
