Segway Ninebot just can’t stop turning up new short-range electric transportation, can they? It was just last week we saw the white edition ES2 and now, the company is pitching yet another called Ninebot KickScooter Air T15.
There’s nothing groundbreaking here, TBH. Ninebot KickScooter Air T15 is just another electric scooter that has a futuristic aesthetic. However, it is one that is actually quite competitively priced. Well, competitively priced only if you pick it up as a pre-order on Kickstarter anyways.
Starting price is US$569. For that sub-600, you get a 250W hub motor-powered electric scooter that makes a top speed of 12.4 mph (20 km/h) and boasts enough torque to handle up to 15 percent slope.
The motor is hooked up to a brushless motor controller and paired to a 21700 automotive-grade power lithium-ion battery that is provides 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) of range. It is no small ride, though it should fit into the trunk of most automobiles when folded down. Speaking of folded down… it also features retractable handlebar for an even more compact fold down size.
Other notables include 4 riding modes, cruise control, a bezel-less dashboard, IPX4 rated construction, integrated front and rear LED lights, power switch/foot brake, regenerative braking system, and it is, of course, app-enabled via Bluetooth.
Interestingly, Ninebot KickScooter Air T15 comes with an Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) packaging that can be used as stand for storage and while charging. From the video, it does look pretty sleek. I know. Surprisingly for an EPP.
Anywho, if you are interested, you can join almost 400 backers on Kickstarter to secure a unit for the said starting price. The campaign is funded and all there’s left for Segway Ninebot to do is to make good its promised to deliver in July 2020.
