Oppo really made a quite an impression at last month’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with the promised of a 5G device and more importantly, a device which touts 10x lossless zoom. The device is now apparently called Reno and a teaser posted on Oppo website indicates it is coming in April. Before that Twitter user Ice universe (@UniverseIce) has tweeted an “exclusive” look at the 10x optical hybrid zoom and the result was a major wow. Like, seriously, wow.
Reno might just be a game changer in the world of mobile photography and if I dare say, it could give Huawei a run for its money. Just to recap, the 10x zoom is part of a triple-lens camera setup that comprises of a 48 MP “ultra-clear” main shooter, a 120-degree ultra-wide camera and a telephoto camera. It uses a periscope design in conjunction with electronic wizardry that enables that insane, super clear zoom while keeping the device to just 6.76 mm thin.
Sadly though, it may not be a flagship spec’ed device because, we heard it is only rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC. But the good news is, it is not going to sport a notch on its 6.4-inch FHD+ display. Oppo Reno 10x lossless zoom smartphone is expected to unveil on April 10, 2019. In the meantime, here’s the tweet by Ice universe showing off the power of the 10x zoom.
