With handheld consoles like MSI Claw, Steamdeck, ROG Ally, and more capable of playing triple-A titles in the market, I am not convinced that there’s a place for gaming tablets. But never mind what I think because gaming tablets are a thing already, and the Redmagic Gaming Tablet Pro is the newest to join this seemingly narrow space.
The Redmagic Gaming Tablet Pro IS NOT the world’s first gaming tablet, by the way. In fact, the NVIDIA Shield Gaming Tablet and the Razer Edge Gaming Tablet were among the first that date back a decade or more. But Redmagic Gaming Tablet Pro is Redmagic’s first gaming tablet and it is also the first tablet to rock an actual cooling fan.
The Redmagic Gaming Tablet Pro is a beast of tablets. It is packed with a 10.9-inch display, the third-gen Snapdragon 8 processor—the Leading Edition, no less and an impressive 10,100 mAh battery that affords up to 10 hours of uninterrupted gameplay (or over 18 hours of overall battery time).
When the time comes to recharge, the battery supports super fast 120 W charging which, when used with the supplied 120 W adapter, can fully top the tablet in just 50 minutes. Meanwhile, the fast SoC is bolstered by the fastest memories there are in the market: LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0.
But what really sets it apart is, you guessed it, a built-in cooling fan. The fan is part of the PAD Magic Cooling ICE 2.0 system which also includes a 9,268mm² superconductor copper foil, 29,400mm² cooling alloy, superconducting graphene, thermal paste, and aerospace aluminum foil.
This is no ordinary cool fan; it spins at a whopping 20,000 RPM, and it is paired with a laptop-grade heat pipe and a 3D air circulation system. This means you can push it to the max without worrying about overheating, making it a perfect fit for hardcore gaming sessions.
That’s not it. There is also a new CUBE AI performance scheduling engine that ensures both strong performance and low power consumption, delivering a perfect balance between power and endurance.
The 10.9-inch display has a 16:10, which is perfect for both gaming and videos, and it boasts 2.8K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, promising to deliver ultra-smooth visuals. It has a pretty impressive instant touch sampling rate of 840 Hz. Sharing the front with the eye-popping display is a 20 MP front-facing camera. Speaking of imaging, the Redmagic Gaming Tablet Pro further benefits from a 50 MP rear-facing camera.
To top it off, there are dual X-axis linear motors to deliver an immersive 4D gaming experience. It further packs DTS:X Ultra-certified speakers, giving you crisp, directional sound whether you’re using headphones or built-in speakers.
Aesthetically, Redmagic’s gaming tablet borrows the proven design of its gaming phones. This means it has a squared-off design and in the case of the tablet, it is crafted from aerospace-grade aluminum with CNC-crafted edges to enhance handling comfort. It has an anodized back cover that is highly durable and scratch resistance against keys, and, and other hand objects.
Also like the phone, it does have some transparent elements but not the entire back. There is a transparent aluminum-silicon glass design that allows for RGB lighting effects, and for, you know, the high-tech look and feel.
Other notables include dual-array noise-canceling microphones, a gaming-specific microphone, and a three-microphone design, along with a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button.
The Redmagic Gaming Tablet Pro was launched in China on September 05, 2024, and it is offered in 12+256 GB, 16+512 GB, and 24 GB+1 TB capacities for 3,999 yuan, 4,499 yuan, and 5,599 yuan [CH], respectively (which is about US$565 to US$791).
