Samsung PlayGalaxy Link Steaming Service

Google has Stadia. Apple has Apple Arcade. And now, Samsung has join the cloud gaming party with Samsung PlayGalaxy Link. Samsung PlayGalaxy Link is a game streaming service, but it’s probably not what you think.

It is not quite an answer to Stadia or Arcade, but its more like turning your powerful PC into a Nintendo Switch-like device. This means, it will let you play titles you already own and installed in your PC on your Galaxy Note10 device.

In other words, it is basically the PC-version of Nintendo Switch.

PlayGalaxy Link app on your Galaxy Note10 connects to your PC via WiFi or mobile data, so you can pick up right where you left off and continue your game wherever you maybe.

Samsung claims lag and latency will not be so much a problem as PlayGalaxy Link uses P2P connection. That is to say, it has no relay server and hence, it shouldn’t have much lag. The connection between the Galaxy Note10 and the PC is only as good as the WiFi or cellular connectivity.

However, that is not to say if you are in poor network environment, you are doom. Samsung said the service also uses Adaptive FPS “to ensure better connectivity even in poor network environments.”

As such, there should be no scenario of the Galaxy Note10 getting hot and drop in frame rates as a result.

Samsung PlayGalaxy Link Beta has launched and it is now available in select countries, including South Korea, the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Singapore and Russia.

For now, Samsung PlayGalaxy Link only works with Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy S10, but it will available to Galaxy Fold, Galaxy A90 and older devices like the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note9 in “early December 2019.”
