This year’s summer heat wave is rather unprecedented. If you are in Japan, however, you can sought to alleviate the outdoor heat with Sony Reon Pocket Wearable Air-Conditioner. Reon is actually a sad reminder. It was originally intended as a release to coincide with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Sadly, though, this quadrennial international sporting event had to be canceled due to the pandemic.

But hey, COVID-19 or not, the heat is not going away and so, it is still a good gadget to have for those who want to feel cool in the midst of the summer heat.

Reon is designed to be use with a special t-shirt that features a pocket on the back, just below the base of the neck, to hold the device. Leveraging on Peltier effect, Reon pumps out cool air through a series of holes to achieve the cooling effect.

The device is app-enabled, allowing you to tweak your preference using a mobile app. But you can also let the device decide the optimal temperature. As a boon, Sony Reon Pocket is not just an air-conditioned; it is also a body warmer for when the weather turns cold. So, it is not a single-purpose device, so to speak.
