Apple may have filed the patent for an adapter that will bring MagSafe back to MacBook and possibly, other devices, but when exactly will it realize is anybody guess and so, for now, if you want MacSafe back, your only solution will be third party solutions like the Griffin BreakSafe and Snapnator, and now there is another to look to: Vinpok Bolt S. As far as uniqueness goes, Vinpok Bolt S has none. It is basically what both BreakSafe and Snapnator have to offer, but it does stand out for the sole fact that it can probably deal with large capacity-equipped 15-inch MacBook Pro.
According to Vinpok, Bolt S magnetic USB-C cable is the first in the market to 87W of power and hence, it could totally pump up a 15-inch MacBook Pro, but we are not sure if Vinpok is aware that Griffin also touted one that has as much as 100W on the tab. Anywho, even if it is the ‘most powerful’, MagSafe aficionados should definitely take a look at the Bolt S, simply because it is probably the most unobtrusive among the handful of similar alternatives.
If the product image laid out in the product’s page is to believe, Bolt S magnetic dongle appears to have a significantly lower profile than its competitions and therefore, it will definitely look a lot more ‘at home’ on your MacBook. However, a protrusion is a protrusion, and if I have the choice, I would rather not have anything poking out even if it is only an mm or two. But if you really have to have MagSafe like I do, then Vinpok Bolt S is probably the only viable solution without looking like mega sore thumb.
Beyond those, there are really not much information to go around. Then again, you don’t really need more details for something as minute as charging cable, do you? In any case, there’s no need to get all too excited yet because, at this point, there are no words on when it will be available or how much will it cost.
