Keeping a virtual pet monster has surely come a long way since Digital Monster aka Digimon was introduced in 1997. For those who don’t know, Digital Monster was like Tamagotchi but more macho. Well, kind of. It was less adorable because you gotta prep your beast for battles with others’ pet monsters. And fighting ain’t exactly cute.
Celebrating its 25 years, Digital Monster is going wearable with the VITAL BRACELET BE Digital Monster 25th Anniversary Set [JP]. The VITAL BRACELET BE Digital Monster 25th Anniversary Set includes two limited editions and a special 25th anniversary dim.
The beauty of the wearable version is that you’d be training your Digimon while training yourself to participate in real-time online battles with monster tamers from around the world using a dedicated app.
In other words, it is kind of like a fitness band and when you train in real life, such as running, working out in a gym, and whatnot, it also trains your virtual pet monster. And oh, this being a fitness band, it does have an IP rating (IPX4) to give you peace of mind that the wearable should be unfazed when exposed to sweat, splashes of water, and some dust.
Included in the package is the Digimon VITA BRACELET BE with the limited brown brand, a replaceable limited gray band, BEMEMORY Digital Monster 25th Anniversary Dim, Digital Monster 25th Anniversary Shikishi Ver. DIGIMON EVOLUTION print, charging cable, and instructions.
The VITAL BRACELET BE Digital Monster 25th Anniversary Set will be released in November 2022 for 12,100 yen (approximately US$93). Meanwhile, pre-orders are happening in Japan as well as popular online retailers.
