2024 Mercedes Maybach EQS SUV

Now that the Mercedes-Benz has quite a few electric vehicles in its lineup, it is time for the next level of opulence aka the Maybach treatment. I know right. As if the current EVs, especially the EQ series, isn’t luxe enough already. But yeah, the first Maybach fully electric vehicle has been announced and it is an SUV called the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV.

The 2024 Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV [DE] is based on the EQS SUV from the Mercedes-EQ but with more power, more lavish styling, and of course, luxe comfort. Power is derived from a permanently excited synchronous motor on each axle, yielding 484 kW (649 hp) and 950 Nm (701 lb-ft) which is a 113 hp and 92 Nm (about 68 lb-ft) bump in power output and torque.

The Maybach’s version of the EQS SUV makes the century sprint in 4.4 seconds (0-100 kph/62 mph) and has a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph). The battery system is not known yet but it is expected to be outfitted with a 22 kW charger with 200 kW max DC charging speed and a range of up to 600 km (373 miles).

Aesthetically, it looks quite close to the concept presented in 2021 but it is a lot less roundish which is a shame because the concept looks a lot more futuristic. Anyhoo, the fascia is pretty much a variation of the S 580 e Plug-in Hybrid with the standard hood ornament but it has a faux grill instead. The side air intakes on the front bumper are now covered and decorated with Maybach logos.

The Mercedes Maybach EQS SUV wears a set of exclusive 21 or 22-inch alloy and forged wheels under its pronounced wheel arches that are clad in high-gloss black. The two-tone paint job you see here is offered as an option, btw.

A few other notables include a Burmester 4D surround sound system, a Maybach-specific scent for the interior fragrance system, improved rear legroom, rear reclining executive seats (bench seat available as an option), heating, cooling and massaging functions (for 2-seat setup), two 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats, and sustainably processed leather.

What we detailed here is just scratching the surface. Clearly, the 2024 Mercedes Maybach EQS SUV is loaded to the brim. The first Maybach EV will go on sale later this year.
