Hot Wheels Collectors Hot Wheels Transformers Optimus Prime

Hasbro’s Transformers franchise is no stranger to collabs with die-cast car makers. But this unlikely collab between the two of the biggest fandoms in the toy arena, Transformers and Hot Wheels, is different. This one is not just a die-cast of Optimus Prime as a heavy-duty truck cab inspired by his appearance in Generation 1.

The Hot Wheels Collectors Hot Wheels Transformers Optimus Prime, as it is called, is a 1:64 scale die-cast heavy-duty truck cab that converts into a 3.5” (8.9 cm) tall by 2.1” (5.3 cm) wide robot. To be fair, the Hot Wheels Transformers Optimus Prime’s look is not quite G1; it is more like the G1 toy look, and from what I have gathered, it is also like the original G1 toy where it has attachable hands.

Dear old toy Optimus also gets his ion blaster too. The Hot Wheels Transformers Optimus Prime is presented in a spectraflame red and blue color, has light smoke-tinted windows, a die-cast chassis —of course, and rolls on Real Riders wheels.

For those who aren’t aware, this toy represents a monumental milestone because it is a collaboration between two brands from two of the world’s biggest toymakers. If I am not wrong, it is also the first time Hasbro has allowed transformable Transformers toys outside of Hasbro’s brand. It is indeed a Transformers toy of significance.

The Hot Wheels Transformers Optimus Prime is set to drop on May 21, 2024, at  9 AM PT for 80 bucks a pop. It is not cheap. Not going to lie. My excitement was doused by the sticker. It comes with a packaging that would allow you to display it in either vehicle or robot mode.
