Now that you have the LEGO Super Mario Play Experience, it is only right that you have the console to play a game of Super Mario. Nah. Just kidding. LEGO Super Mario requires no console. But that does not stop LEGO and Nintendo from you this: the LEGO 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System.

Folks, you totally heard that right. Brick-built NES is a thing! I, for one, sure didn’t see this coming, but here it is anyways, a LEGO NES to complement your LEGO Super Mario Play Experience.

Not only will you be getting a LEGO replica of the iconic Nintendo Entertainment System that comes complete with a controller and a connecting cable, but you also get to build a 80s-style CRT TV too!

The LEGO NES features an opening slot for the Game Pad with a locking feature while the TV boasts a flat 8-bit Mario figure on the scrolling screen. Absolutely bonkers and need I say, gorgeous.

LEGO and Nintendo did not stop there; if you have the LEGO Mario from the LEGO Super Mario Starter Course, you can scan it with the included action brick so that LEGO Mario can react to the “on-screen” enemies, obstacles and power-ups – just like he would in the actual 8-bit video game.

Here’s an overview of the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System Set in video:

The LEGO 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System will be available first from LEGO Retail Stores and LEGO.com, starting August 1st, 2020, and for US$229.99. It will also be available at retailers around the world too, but only in 2021.
