Some say that a gadget like smartwatch can never be luxurious. I guess it is true to certain extend as luxury timepieces are never electronics dominant. If ain’t mechanical, it is probably not quite that luxury, but to LG begs to differ. The South Korea electronics juggernaut will be unveiling its first all-metal luxury Android Wear, dubbed LG Watch Urbane at the Mobile World Congress 2015 next week in Barcelona, Spain. At a glance, Urbane has not a hint that it is in fact a smartwatch, which makes sense cos’ it is aimed squarely at style-conscious, gadget lovers. Like the Watch R, it sports a 1.3-inch circular plastic OLED (P-OLED) display and has a thinner profile, making more like a dress watch suitable for formal occasions.

Under the hood, it gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip with a 1.2GHz processor (likewise with the Watch R), 512MB RAM, 4GB onboard storage, a 410mAh battery, and a bunch of sensors, including gyro, accelerometer, compass, barometer and heart rate sensor. Similarly, it is also built to IP67 rating, making it resistant to dust and water. So yes, the LG Watch Urbane is essentially the Watch R, but now dressed to go with your boardroom meetings and fine-dining dates. We are not sure if there is a room for Urbane cos’ we thought the Watch R already looks pretty formal and decent for formal events. Just saying…
