These days, businesses will find every and any opportunity to make an exclusive item. Just ask Hasbro. They are experts in this area. But today, it ain’t about toys. It’s Audi. Specifically, Audi of America. Audi of America is bidding adieu to the Audi R8 V10 quattro with a limited edition model.
I find it kind of a bit of stretch because, the fact is, the R8 V10 performance quattro will continue on for the 2021 model year. Anywho, here it is, the Limited Edition Audi R8 V10 quattro, for those who are down for everything and anything limited edition, including big ticket items like a luxury sports car.
The Limited Edition Audi R8 V10 quattro is offered in Mugello Blue, Avus Silver, and Sonoma Green, and it is a culmination of technologies and features previously reserved for the performance model, with unique interior and exterior design elements to boot. The latter includes 20-inch milled wheels in silver, carbon exterior lower trim, and alu-optic micro caps – just to point out a few.
Obvious marketing intent aside, the R8 is no doubt the pinnacle of performance for Audi. For that, you get the same naturally aspirated V10 engine as found in the R8 LMS race car, quattro all-wheel drive (like, duh), and a functional yet technologically advanced cabin.
The engine, which pumps out 562 horses and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque, is mated to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. This high-tech gearbox affords gear shift in as little as 120 ms and affords this gorgeous rid to wipe 0-60 (97 km/h) in mere 3.4 seconds, sending it on its way to a top speed of 201 mph/322 km/h (or 3.5 seconds and 200 mph/323 km/h for the Spyder model).
Only 30 units will be on sale this Summer and so, if you want one, you’d better start talking to your local authorized Audi dealer. As for the pricing, the Coupe has an MSRP of US$186,000 while the Spyder will sell for US$195,900.
