If you think making freshly brewed coffee when out in the great wilderness isn’t enough for you, then I supposed you are in need of LUME. LUME is a soon-to-be-launched portable coffee grinder that will, you guessed it, let you grind your favorite coffee beans when you are out and about. Basically, it takes coffee enjoyment in the wild a step up. Not only you can say adios to instant coffee but also bid farewell to not-so-fresh and irregular ground coffee.
About the size of a hot water flask and weighing in at mere 22 ounces (624g), LUME is billed as the lightest auto-grinder there is today and it boasts a patent-pending design that uses a stabilized conical ceramic burr to deliver precise and even ground coffee – just like your favorite coffee shop does, well, that’s assuming your favorite coffee joint is even that meticulous. In addition, you will have the liberty to adjust the size to produce the ground coffee beans to suit your tastebud. And it didn’t stop there. LUME is also a capable camping light that offers 150 lumens of brightness for times when you need to do some reading or find your way around in the dark of the night.
LUME is powered by a rechargeable battery pack that’s good for up to 50 cups or 20 hours of illumination duty in between charges. Yea, I know. A coffee grinder and a lantern sure sound like a weird combination, but if it works, we surely wouldn’t mind a bit. And oh, LUME is not exclusive to the great outdoors; it is as good as a grinder at home too and the light source there makes for a handy emergency light for home too. Sure, it may not be the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, it will come in handy in time to come nonetheless.
LUME On-The-Go Coffee Grinder Light will be hitting up popular crowdfunding platform Kickstarter starting September 11, so if you want one at a bargain sticker of as low as 59 bucks, then do keep your eyes peeled. In the mean time, do check out an entertaining product pitch video after a few more product images to pick up more information.
