Well, I certainly did not see this coming but am sure delighted to see Barbie assuming the role of Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl in this newest Barbie collectible, Barbie Signature Supergirl Barbie Doll. Barbie has portrayed many roles in the past, including non-fictional characters like Bessie Coleman, as the female version of Elvis Presley, and David Bowie but I don’t believe she has been a superhero yet. I could be wrong. Whatever the case is, we like the Barbie version of Kara the same.
The Barbie Signature Supergirl Barbie Doll is in a getup that she will be seen wearing in the upcoming The Flash movie, i.e. the signature bodysuit and a flowing cape with the iconic S-Shield, which is consistent with the Man of Steel and The Flash series’ Superman suits. Similarly, this superhero Barbie doll also has identical chin-length locks to Sasha Calle in the film.
As with all Barbie dolls, the Barbie Signature Supergirl Barbie Doll is not able to stand very well on its own without aid, i.e. the doll stand, which is included with the doll. And it most certainly cannot fly. It will need some form of aid to keep it propped up. However, with striking and oh-so-display-worthy packaging, you probably don’t need Kara to be out of her box anyways. After all, she will remain perfectly visible even inside the packaging thanks to the super clear window.
The Barbie Signature Supergirl Barbie Doll will be officially available on August 25, 2023. Meanwhile, fans can pre-order the doll from Creations.mattel.com for US$55.
