When LEGO collaborated with Nintendo’s Super Mario franchise in 2020, we were half-expecting a UCS-style figure of Mario or Luigi like the Baby Yoda. But we did not get that. Fast forward to 2022, we still did not get a Mario or Luigi buildable figure (you can find a MOC one though) but we did get a Bowser buildable figure and it is huge!
Folks, meet the LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser (71411). Packing a cool 2,807 pieces, Adult Fans of LEGO and Super Mario fans can piece together the king of the Koopas which also boasts new-for-October-2022 LEGO elements, molded specifically to recreate the look of the Bowser’s spikes.
The buildable figure is not just good for display; it is playable too. It has articulated arms, hands, fingers, legs, and tail, and a mouth that can open and close. Meanwhile, a button under the shell lets you control Bowser’s head and neck movements.
Bowser comes armed with a fireball launcher and a brick-built battle platform which has 2 towers for him to knock over (because knocking over things is kind of his thing), a hidden POW Block, and an Action Tag.
Speaking of Action Tag… the set’s playability can be further expanded when you combine Bowser and the platform with a LEGO Super Mario Starter Course for battles with LEGO Mario, LEGO Luigi, or LEGO Peach.
When completed, the figure demands quite some shelf space. It towers at 32 cm (12.5 inches) tall, measures 41 cm (16 inches) wide, and is 28 cm (11 inches) deep.
The LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser (71411) will be available on October 01, 2022, priced at US$269.99.
